Specialist Register in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Dr Woo was initially trained as a neuropsychiatrist. In his clinical work, he became interested in the psychological manifestations of patients with brain injuries and their impact on their carers and families, including their children. Following intensive psychological work experience with these children and families, Dr Woo undertook child and adolescent psychiatry training in London and qualified as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in 2007, in addition to his speciality in general adult psychiatry.
About Dr Woo
Dr. Woo initially trained as a neuropsychiatrist. During his training, he encountered patients suffering from chronic pain with no identifiable medical cause. Upon discovering the therapeutic effects of talking therapy with these patients, he developed an interest in psychoanalysis and the exploration of the human mind.
A seminar presented by a British analyst profoundly influenced him, prompting his move to the United Kingdom for further training in psychoanalysis. He initially trained in the adolescent department at the Tavistock Clinic in London and continued to deepen his interest in psychoanalytic theory and practice.
After gaining extensive psychological experience working with young people and their families at the Tavistock Clinic, Dr Woo pursued child and adolescent psychiatry training in London.
He qualified as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in 2007, in addition to specialising in general adult psychiatry.
His enduring passion for psychoanalysis led him to train as a psychoanalyst at the Institute of Psychoanalysis. Having completed his training, he is a member of the British Psychoanalytic Council.
Dr Woo currently works as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist in the NHS and in private practice. He also practices psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for private patients.
